Orem, Utah: Family City Convenience in Central Utah Valley

Orem calls itself Family City USA, and the nickname fits. Sitting just north of Provo, it offers established, well-kept neighborhoods, an enormous concentration of shopping and dining, and a central location that makes almost everything in Utah Valley a short drive away. It is home to Utah Valley University, the state's largest public university, which gives the city a youthful, busy feel.

Lifestyle

University Place anchors the city's retail and dining, and the mature, leafy neighborhoods make Orem feel settled in a way newer suburbs don't. The Murdock Canal Trail runs the length of the city for cyclists and runners, and Scera Park and the historic SCERA outdoor theater are longtime community gathering spots.

Schools

Orem is part of the Alpine School District. The city is served by a broad set of elementary schools and by Orem, Mountain View, and Timpanogos high schools, while UVU draws students and faculty who put down roots in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Getting Around

Orem is exceptionally central. UVX bus rapid transit runs straight down University Parkway connecting UVU, the FrontRunner station, and BYU in Provo, and multiple I-15 interchanges make north-south travel easy. Most errands in Orem are five to ten minutes away.

The Market

Orem's housing stock skews older and more established than the rapidly building cities to the south, so much of the inventory is resale homes with mature yards. That maturity, plus the central location and UVU, keeps demand steady. I can show you how Orem prices compare to Provo and the south-valley new-build markets.
